In the east of South Tyrol, the vacation region around Kronplatz encompasses several resorts and side valleys in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site: the city of Brunico as an urban center, San Vigilio in the heart of the Dolomites, the cozy village of Chienes very close to the Kronplatz, Valdaora, known as a vacation paradise for the whole family and the Antholzertal Valley with its enchanting mountain lake and the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park.
Above this unique area, right in the heart of the vacation region, towers the impressive Kronplatz with an altitude of 2,275 meters. The panorama on the summit is fabulous: it gives a clear view of a grandiose mountain world that extends beyond the national borders. It's the perfect backdrop for the South Tyrolean Speck Festival, where bacon fans from near and far celebrate our most typical quality product.
Some of the region's attractions can also be found directly on the summit: Both the LUMEN Museum, Museum of Mountain Photography, and the MMM Corones, one of Reinhold Messner's six museums, present themselves at this fascinating location. You can visit the MMM Ripa in Bruneck Castle, which features a permanent exhibition on the culture of various mountain peoples, down in the valley. If you like to actively explore the landscape, hike through three nature parks or pedal along the Pustertal bike path or in the Bike Park Kronplatz.
